When the baby is 0~2m old; hold the elephant in your hand at 10-12 inches away from baby's face, and allow baby to observe it.
When the baby is 2~4m old; she reaches out with her hand - at first, randomly, and gradually, with purpose - and bats at the toy, causing it to swing and make pleasing sounds. This effect is captivating and encourages her to try again.
When the baby is 4m+ old; her grasp reflex disappears, control of her hands improves, allowing her to reach out confidently to bat the toy or grasp it for further exploration.
